The construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, took 1265 days to from Bhoomi poojan to the consecration ceremony scheduled on 22 Jan. It has been progressing steadily since the groundbreaking ceremony on August 5, 2020. The project has immense religious and cultural significance for millions of Hindus in India.  Here’s a timeline of the key milestones achieved so far: 

2020:

  • August 5, 2020: Prime Minister Narendra Modi lays the foundation stone for the Ram Mandir in a historic ceremony.

2021:

  • January 2021: Excavation work begins at the site.
  • March 2021: Excavation work concludes.
  • April 2021: The three-layer engineering fill process commences.
  • September 2021: Engineering fill is completed.
  • November 2021: Raft installation is finished, and Plinth Stone erection begins.

2022:

  • March 2022: Plinth Stone erection is complete.
  • January 2022: Temple column erection starts.

2023:

  • August 2023: Terrace, finishing, and landscaping work is finalized.
  • December 2023: The base, six smaller surrounding temples, and the ground floor of the main temple are nearing completion.

2024:

  • January 16, 2024: Grand celebratory events leading up to the consecration ceremony begin on Makar Sankranti.
  • January 22, 2024: The much-awaited consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir is scheduled to take place.

According to Nripendra Mishra,head of he construction committee of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has assured that all three phases of Ram Mandir will be completed by Dec 2025.

  • Phase 1 (December 2023): Construction of the five ground-floor mandaps, including the sanctum sanctorum.
  • Phase 2 (December 2024): Completion of the first and second floors and the outer perimeter wall (percota).
  • Phase 3 (December 2025): Finalization of the entire temple complex, including landscaping and surrounding structures.
