New Delhi— The Delhi Orthopaedic Association (DOA) marked a significant milestone with the successful organization of its 1st Quarterly Meet under the theme of Sports Injuries. The event, held on January 21st, witnessed the participation of cricketer and pace bowler Ishant Sharma as the Chief Guest.
More than 65 sports injury experts from across the country, along with 250 doctors and medical professionals, participated in this academic endeavor. The event, which resembled a national conference, featured practical lectures and discussions broadcasted live for the first time on Ortho TV under the banner of the West Delhi Orthopaedic Association (WDOA).
The Quarterly Meet, organized under the WDOA, achieved several notable milestones, including the introduction of three workshops and an engaging quiz – a first for such a forum.
Specialized doctors and delegates engaged in in-depth discussions on treatment and rehabilitation strategies for athletic sports injuries. The focus also extended to practical, hands-on experiences, particularly in the realm of Athletic Ligament reconstruction/repair surgeries.
During the event, Ishant Sharma shared his experiences with doctors, emphasizing the challenges he faced due to sports injuries during his tenure with the Indian cricket team. Despite multiple setbacks, his journey of recovery and subsequent contributions to Team India’s victories and trophies were lauded.
Dr. Jujhar Singh, Secretary of the event, extended gratitude to the President of DOA, Dr. Gurinder Bedi, Secretary DOA Shekhar Srivastav, President WDOA Dr. Manoj Vats, Secretary WDOA Samarjeet Singh, Ajay Gandotra, Harmesh Kapoor, RK Mishra, and the entire EC of DOA and WDOA for their invaluable support.
The success of the Quarterly Meet was further accentuated by the collaboration and support from the Fit India Movement, Government of India, Delhi Medical Council, and Ortho TV.
