Fresh terror attack in Jammu on 21 Dec is not the lone case, in last 3 years terrorist have attacked Jammu Region 8 times (mentioned in the list) . Latest attack have reignited the debate about peace in Jammu and Kashmir particularly after Removal of Article 370 in 2019. Recently Supreme Court has a given approval for the way Union Government has abrogated the Article 370. According to sources, the terrorist attack in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the tragic death of five Army soldiers on Thursday, was allegedly orchestrated as part of a larger plan by Pakistan and China, reported by India Today.
Report further mentions that the objective behind this plan was to divert India’s attention from the Ladakh issue. It is believed that this strategic move aimed to hinder India’s efforts to ease tensions in Jammu and Kashmir. In 2020, India had strategically deployed the Rashtriya Rifles from the Poonch sector to Ladakh to counter China’s aggression and exert pressure.

71% Rise in Arrests in Jammu Region (August 5, 2019 – June 16, 2023)
In a significant development, there has been a 71% increase in the arrest of terrorists and their overground workers (OGWs) between August 5, 2019, and June 16, 2023, compared to the period between October 27, 2015, and August 4, 2019. Stepped-up counter-insurgency operations in the Jammu division have led to the apprehension of 231 individuals involved in terrorist activities.
