Recent parliament security breach is not a one off incident, here is the list of instances of Security breaches of Indian Prime Ministers.

After 22 years India has witnessed another breach of security, this time at new Parliament. Two person entered the Lok Sabha Chamber after jumping from gallery during ongoing winter session. This comes at a time when designated khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has reportedly thereatened to attack Indian Parliament.

Outside the Parliament also, two persons, including a woman, were detained for protesting using cans that released colour smoke.

This bring back the memory of 22 years ago. On 13 December 2001, five armed terrorists has stormed into the parliament. Gunbattle resulted into the death of six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service personnel, and a gardener.

15 Nov 2023- Ranchi- Narendra Modi :Women Jumped in front of Convoy 

Ranchi, Jharkhand: During a roadshow in Ranchi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi faced a security breach when an unidentified woman suddenly jumped in front of his convoy. The incident occurred as PM Modi was leaving the Birsa Munda Jayanti event. Quick action by security personnel resulted in the apprehension of the woman and the clearance of the way for the Prime Minister’s convoy. 

5 Jan 2022-Ferozepur, Punjab- Narendra Modi: Cavalcade Stuck on Flyover 

Ferozepur, Punjab: On January 5, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cavalcade encountered an unexpected situation as it got stuck on a flyover in Ferozepur, Punjab. The subsequent suspension order for officer Gurbinder cited a security lapse report submitted by the Director General of Punjab police on October 18, 2023. The order stated that Mr. Gurbinder did not perform his duty properly, leading to his immediate suspension. 

Feb 2019- West Bengal– Narendra Modi : Security Lapse in West Bengal Rally 

West Bengal: An apparent security breach was reported at Prime Minister Modi’s rally in Ashoknagar, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, in February 2019. The breach led to a stampede-like situation, prompting Modi to cut short his speech and be swiftly whisked away by the Special Protection Group (SPG). 

May 2018- West Bengal : Narendra Modi : ‘Fan’ Infiltrates SPG Cover –  

West Bengal: In May 2018, a man claiming to be a ‘fan’ of the Prime Minister reportedly infiltrated the security cover of the SPG at Vishwa Bharati’s convocation ceremony in West Bengal. 

 Dec 2017 – Noida: Narendra Modi : Policemen Obstructed PM Modi’s Convoy 

Noida: In December 2017, two policemen unintentionally obstructed PM Modi’s convoy in Noida, leading to a brief traffic delay near the Mahamaya Flyover. Both officers were subsequently suspended for their mistake. 

Dec 2014 – Mumbai : Narendra Modi : Security Guilt in Mumbai 

Mumbai: In December 2014, three policemen, including a police inspector and two constables, were found guilty of negligence that resulted in a breach of security cover for Modi at the swearing-in ceremony of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on October 31. A former BJP activist, Anil Mishra, managed to reach the podium, prompting his arrest by the Marine Drive police of Mumbai. 

Dec 2010- Kerala : Manmohan Singh : Vehicle Enters Convoy Route  

Kerala: In December 2010, a private vehicle almost entered the road as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s convoy was passing through Kerala. The Kerala government denied any security breach during the Prime Minister’s visit. 

Nov 2006 –Kerala: Manmohan Singh : Wrong Route Controversy  

Kerala: In November 2006, the Prime Minister’s Office sought an explanation from the Kerala government about a security breach when Manmohan Singh’s convoy took the wrong route in Thiruvananthapuram, causing a halt between the airport and Raj Bhavan. 

21 May 1991: Seriperumbudur (Tamil Nadu) : Rajiv Gandhi : PM asked SPG to allow his assassin to come near him 

Sriperumbudur: On May 21, 1991, Rajiv Gandhi reportedly asked SPG personnel to allow his assassin, Dhanu, to come near him during a campaign rally in Sriperumbudur. This request led to tragic consequences. 

Oct 2, 1986 :Delhi: Gun Shots Heard in Near PM Event 

Delhi: In 1986, Rajiv Gandhi attended a prayer meeting at Rajghat, where gunshots were heard in the background. Despite the incident, Gandhi remained calm and later stated that there was no problem with his security arrangements by the SPG. 

1967 :Bhubaneshwar- Indira Gandhi: Mob Attack PM 

Odisha: In 1967, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi faced a hostile mob at an election meeting in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. She was pelted with stones, resulting in injuries to her face, and had to leave the meeting while bleeding. Indira Gandhi, despite her injuries, addressed the crowd and questioned their support for such acts of violence.
