Nationalist Congress Party’s national president Sharad Pawar said on Monday that his nephew Ajit Pawar is still the NCP leader and there is no split. Pawar’s remark came a day after the statement of his daughter and NCP MP Supriya Sule on the same lines.

“Ajit Pawar is still our leader. There is no dispute about it. What is the meaning of split? When does this split take place? If a big group leaves the party, it is called a split. Some party leaders taking a different stand is called democracy in the party. If some leaders take a different stand, it does not mean the party has split. It is their decision,” Pawar said while addressing a press conference in Baramati.

On Thursday, Sule also said, “NCP has not split, only some of its leaders have joined the BJP alliance government. We have complained to the speaker that some NCP leaders have joined them. Party has not split at all.”

On BJP president Chandrashekhar’s claim that NCP chief Pawar will also join the BJP after the 2024 elections, he reprimanded the reporter and said, “Don’t ask whatever you feel like…”

On the question of election opinion polls, he said that I don’t know about all those things but we are taking information from different institutions and they are telling us that the MVA alliance is going to swipe the elections.
